Locating at the Northeast of Zhejiang, Jiashan is adjacent to Shanghai and Jiangsu with a total area of 506.6 square kilometers and a population of 380,000. With 90 kilometers to Shanghai in the east, 113 kilometers to Hangzhou in the west and 95 kilometers to Suzhou in the north, Jiashan is at the center of the tourist radiation network of the three big cities. in the Yangtze Delta.
    With a long history, Jiashan is the cradle of the ancient WuYue culture and has human activities in more than 6,000 years ago. With mild climate, beautiful scene, abundant products and flourishing economy, Jiashan is crowned as “Land of fish and rice-silver Jiashan”. Its people are industrious, honest, virtuous, and hospitable and culture advocating. Many famous figures come from here in every generation.
Jiashan is rich in human culture. Chinese painting and calligraphy have a long history; watercolor paintings and peasant paintings have a certain influence both domestically and internationally; nongovernmental handicrafts take on different features; Eaves Tile culture can be cast back to Qing and Han dynasty times; cuisine culture, building culture, drinking culture, silkworm culture and dying and weaving culture are well inherited and preserved; Jiashan’s farming songs are the unique creations of folk literature; the folk customs are unique in Jiashan like treading white boat, throwing torch, spring cow gathering and netting fish gathering; the folk collection and trade of painting and calligraphy, jade articles, wooden arts and crafts, pottery and porcelain, stamp, coins and etc. are exceptionally active.
    The tourist resources in Jiashan are very unique, like the knitting water networks, painting-like ancient towns and poetic gardens; a series of splendid ancient cultures such as the site of Dawang dyke with a history of more than 6,000 years and Neolithic Dailiangzhu culture and etc.; the homeland and tomb of one of the four most famous painters Wu Zhen in Yuan dynasty-Meihua nunnery and other provincial key cultural relic preservation units; the ancient town that has a history of a thousand years-West Pond; aquatic tour of Ten-li Rongxi-Dayun ecological tourist area; WuYue famous lake drunk dusk-Fen lake tourist and holiday-spending area; the tomb of the premier of the Public of China Qian Nengxun, the homeland of rites minister and east pavilion scholar Qian Shisheng, Yuanjue Buddhist temple and etc.
